Modern Snow White is based on the film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs by Disney (1937)
Level: group 4. (EOI Intermediate Students)
Characters: Narrator, Snow White, Stepmother, Mirror, Hunter, Dwarfs, Prince Charming, Actor 1, Actress 1
Synopsis: In the traditional story we are told that Snow White is a beautiful princess who lives with her stepmother, a bad woman who hates her. This wicked woman is mad with envy and wants her dead. After the hunter fails to kill her, Snow White is left alone in the forest. Some dwarfs welcome her to their home and she begins a new life cleaning and cooking for them.
When her stepmother discovers Snow White is still alive, she goes to the forest disguised as an old beggar and offers her a poisoned apple.
The girl falls asleep until a foreign prince wakes her up with a kiss.
But... in our modern world things don't work the same way for princesses and princes... and as if the audience was watching a film on TV, the action is going to be interrupted by TV commercials more than once.

I think adapting a classical tale is usually difficult with adults this is why I wonder if this play could work with adults. However, the idea of having commercials make it really appealing to me although to be more realistic two commercials are not enough. Je,je! I'm sure students will love that part. I have never seen a play like that before.
ResponderEliminarDon't despair Mª José! The idea behind creating this blog was to use it in this course to allow other participants to read your play outline and make comments. And then for you to make comments once your students had performed the play. In any case, a holiday sounds great! Tracey (your tutor)
ResponderEliminarI think it's a good idea to adapt classics to our age. It's a very original adaptation. And with the commercials you get more students involved in the play. I'm sure students will enjoy it.
ResponderEliminarI have found this blog with the same level as mine, level four.
ResponderEliminarThe outline is based on a traditional story and on a famous movie by Disney. I see this play appropriate for level four. Nevertheless being intermediate level of English is appropriate due to be written in present tense very useful for training the 3º person singular which is difficult to pronounce indeed.
Pupils will always learn from drama. This is my point of view. I think there is less drama activities that it should be in a EOI. It‘s perfect for improving oral skills.
I would change dwarfs for Polish immigrants, who don’t know the language and get isolate from other people. Snow White will be a bridge with the rest of the people.
I think it could be a good play to put on stage. In my class with 25 students, there are not enough characters to play so it could be useful to have different groups and several changes in the roles, so instead polish immigrants Peruvian ones and so on.
Yes it is similar to others plays I have seen, there is no problem having 7 scenes.
